White's new LP is meandering & unpredictable (in a good, grandstanding way). His bandcamp lists his influences like "Randy Newman, Allen Toussaint, and Alan Lomax," -- all artists I'm unfamiliar with. So there's probably more to this nostalgic style (possible tributes of some kind?) that I'm just not appreciating.
